Nay Pyi Taw, 11 September 2026
The e-Government Implementation Working Committee held its Meeting No. (1/2026) on 11 September 2026 at the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Daw Nwe Ni Soe Yin, Deputy Director-General of the Information Technology Department, reported on the upgrading of the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) and the planned arrangements for its systematic and standardized adoption across all government agencies.
The upgraded EDMS is being developed to facilitate the efficient, effective and timely management of government administrative processes through the application of digital technologies. In this regard, the existing EDMS has been progressively upgraded in line with rapid technological advancements and emerging technologies, transitioning from the previous Server-Client Version to the Web Version and subsequently to the Mobile Version.
The upgraded system incorporates enhanced functionalities, including handwritten annotation and electronic signing, while appropriate cybersecurity measures have been put in place to strengthen the security of the system and protect it against potential cyber threats.
It was further reported that the upgraded EDMS has already been introduced for use at the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications. Implementation across the remaining government agencies will be undertaken in accordance with a phased implementation plan, with a view to ensuring the systematic, standardized and government-wide adoption of EDMS.
The implementation of the upgraded EDMS is expected to support the ongoing transition from e-Government to Digital Government by enhancing the efficiency, security and effectiveness of digitally enabled government administrative processes.
