Nay Pyi Taw, 11 September

Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo, Minister for Transport and for Digital Development and Communications and Chairman of the e-Government Implementation Working Committee, today called for active cooperation in digital transformation as a national undertaking that can advance development, improve government performance and enhance people’s quality of life.

He was speaking at the committee’s Coordination Meeting No. 1/2026 held this afternoon at the conference hall of Office No. 2, Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, Nay Pyi Taw.

He said departments should prioritise digitising existing processes to deliver one-stop services. Better public services would improve government performance and strengthen public trust. An Open Government Data system would also be developed so citizens and businesses could easily access government datasets in one place, supporting data-driven innovation. ICT infrastructure such as data centres and core networks, together with common and shared digital platforms such as EDMS, should be used uniformly across government under a single standard. Departments should use EDMS to move towards paperless operations. The existing EDMS had already received technological and security upgrades, and work would continue towards consistent adoption by all government departments.

Committee members discussed their departments’ current e-government activities and future programmes.

The chairman coordinated the necessary actions in response to the discussions.
