At e-Government Implementation Working Committee Coordination Meeting No. 1/2026, held on 11 September 2026 at the conference hall of Office No. 2, Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, Nay Pyi Taw, Daw Nwe Ni Soe Yin, Deputy Director General of the Information Technology Department, presented the completion of upgrades to the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) and plans for uniform use by all government departments. The system enables efficient and rapid electronic management of government office work.
She explained that the previous EDMS had been upgraded to keep pace with rapid technological change, progressing from a server-client version to a web version and then a mobile version. It supports handwritten annotations and signatures and incorporates security measures against cyberattacks. Office processes such as submitting, annotating and forwarding correspondence can be managed as required through the system. The new EDMS is already in use at the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, with other ministries to follow according to the implementation plan. It will enable efficient and secure digital management of government administration and support the transition from e-Government to Digital Government.
