Yangon, 29 June 2026

MPT, Myanmar’s leading telecommunications operator, successfully held its 2026 nationwide workplace observation and learning programme from April to June at MPT offices in six regions and states. The programme helps engineering students from technological universities under the Ministry of Education understand workplace technologies and the practical application of their university studies.

Launched in 2018, the programme has helped develop technical human resources by supporting nearly 3,000 students. This year it trained 82 final-year students from 11 technological universities in Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, southern Shan State, Mandalay, Tanintharyi, Ayeyawady and Yangon regions. Students received theoretical and practical training in microwave communications, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing), FTTX, workplace health and safety (HSE), information security and workplace knowledge. Students at the Yangon headquarters also visited the satellite earth station, transmission systems and call centre operations.

Mr Hiroyuki OKAI of MPTJO’s operations division said: “MPT’s mission includes not only providing excellent communications networks but also nurturing the young technologists who will lead the country’s future. As telecommunications evolves rapidly, exposure to real workplace challenges and new technologies while still at university is an important step in students’ careers. We are immensely proud that this programme, which began in 2018, has helped develop nearly 3,000 students.”

Ma Khaing Khaing Tun, a final-year student from West Yangon Technological University, said: “During this internship, we saw first-hand how the telecommunications technologies and network systems we had studied in theory work in practice. MPT’s experienced engineers guided us systematically. This experience has greatly increased our confidence in entering the workplace.”

MPT continues to prioritise the development of young people throughout its operations. One notable initiative is its e-learning platform at https://csrelearning.mpt.com.mm/, which enables young learners in Myanmar to study free of course fees and data charges.
