Yangon, 18 June 2026

As part of its continuing corporate social responsibility activities, MPT successfully held its nationwide “Let’s Move Forward for a Greener Future” tree-planting programme on 18 June 2026. Activities took place simultaneously across 17 regional areas, including Yatanarpon New Town in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region.

The campaign aims to promote a greener environment, improve quality of life and reduce the impacts of natural disasters and climate change by reducing greenhouse gases. More than 800 MPT employees and volunteers planted over 3,770 seedlings, including fast-growing hardwood, shade and fruit trees. Species were selected to provide shade for local communities, improve air quality and support environmental conservation.

Mr Hiroyuki OKAI, Advisor to MPTJO’s operations division, said: “Our nationwide ‘Let’s Move Forward for a Greener Future’ campaign began in 2017 and has now reached its eighth edition. Including more than 3,770 seedlings planted in 2026, we have planted over 23,000 trees across Myanmar since the programme began. This reflects our strong commitment to environmental sustainability and community wellbeing. We will continue programmes that support communities through meaningful actions.”

In addition to digital services, MPT, Myanmar’s domestic telecommunications operator, actively supports communities nationwide through education, health and sustainability programmes. Information on its CSR activities is available at http://mpt.com.mm/mm/about-home/csr-activities-mm/.
