The Ministry of Digital Development and Communications held its 2026 monsoon tree-planting ceremony at 8 a.m. today on vacant land in Yatanarpon Cyber City, Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region. Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo, Minister for Transport and for Digital Development and Communications, attended with deputy ministers, district and township officials, staff and their families, employees of factories in the cyber city and technological university students.
The Union Minister and party planted valuable timber species and shade and windbreak trees at designated locations. He then toured the site and encouraged participants as they planted together in a national campaign.
More than 2,000 shade and windbreak trees were planted at the event. Simultaneous ministry tree-planting events in regions and states brought the total to 3,770 seedlings.
After the ceremony, the Union Minister inspected diesel-electric locomotives and RBE railcars operating on the Pyin Oo Lwin–Gokteik route, a charter steam locomotive and RGC vehicles at the diesel locomotive workshop at Pyin Oo Lwin station.
